The 2023 “Clos des Angles” opens with a bright ruby‑garnet hue and an elegant bouquet of wild cherry, cranberry, violet petals, and pomegranate skin, layered with subtle notes of forest floor, iron filings and just a hint of sweet spice. On the palate it offers medium body with a refined structure: crisp acidity frames vibrant red‑berry fruit while fine, chalky tannins provide support without heaviness. Mid‑palate nuances of orange rind, dried herb and crushed stone add depth and minerality, giving the wine both energy and elegance. The finish is long and graceful—lingering cherry pit, soft licorice thread and saline chalk minerality remain well after the sip. While approachable now with gentle decanting, this wine is clearly built for ageing, promising evolving complexity over the next 10‑15 years in a cool cellar.
Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is one of Burgundy’s most esteemed family‑owned estates, headquartered in Volnay with a lineage dating back centuries. Their vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with ultra‑low yields, old‑vine plantings, and a philosophy of minimal cellar intervention—letting terroir speak above all. Key holdings include highly regarded premier cru parcels such as Clos des Ducs, Caillerets, Champans, and Clos des Angles. Each wine is crafted with the same exacting precision and care, whether regional or top‑flight. The estate’s consistent elegance, purity and age‑worthiness have earned it a place among Burgundy’s true benchmarks.
