The 2023 Volnay “Les Frémiets” opens with a bright garnet‑ruby hue and an aromatic bouquet of wild raspberry, pomegranate, rose petal and cranberry, underscored by delicate iron filings and a whisper of peppery spice. On the palate it delivers refined tension: fine chalky tannins and crisp acidity frame a core of vibrant red‑berry fruit while a mineral backbone—chalk and oyster shell—lends structure and poise. Mid‑palate nuance emerges with hints of dried herbs, graphite dust and subtle earth, giving the wine complexity without heaviness. The finish is long and graceful—lingering cherry pit, dried herb and saline mineral thread echo beautifully. Accessible now with gentle decanting, this wine promises evolution over the next 10–15 years in a cool, stable cellar.
Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is a distinguished estate in Volnay, Côte de Beaune, deeply rooted in the d’Angerville family’s heritage and now guided by Guillaume d’Angerville. Their vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with ultra‑low yields and minimal cellar intervention—letting the terroir speak above all. Each parcel is treated with the same precision, whether regional or premier cru, and the estate is prized for producing wines of finesse, purity and long‑term potential.
