The 2019 Vigna Molsino opens with a deep garnet‑rimmed ruby hue and a compelling aromatic profile of wild cherry, pomegranate skin, violet petal, incense, and iron‑rich minerality. On the palate it is full‑bodied yet finely balanced, showcasing dense dark fruit framed by satin‑textured tannins and bright acidity that lend both power and grace. Mid‑palate complexity unfurls with graphite, cedar, licorice root and crushed red‑stone minerality, offering an impressive depth and presence. The finish is remarkably long: cherry pit, tobacco leaf, forest underbrush and a saline‑mineral echo linger elegantly. This 3 L format enhances the wine’s structural breadth and ageing potential—it is approachable now with decanting, but built to evolve beautifully over the next 15–20 years and beyond.
Nervi‑Conterno, under the leadership of Roberto Conterno (of the iconic Conterno family), has reinvigorated the historic Gattinara estate in Alto Piemonte with finesse and precision. Their vineyards sit on porphyry‑rich volcanic soils at high elevation, farmed with extremely low yields and traditional viticulture. Winemaking emphasizes long macerations, large oak botti ageing, and a minimalist approach to highlight terroir, depth and longevity. The result is pure Nebbiolo of rare clarity and age‑worthiness, capturing the rugged elegance of the Alto Piemonte region.
