The Riesling Vinothek 2002 is a monumental release: aged for 17 years in a single old cask before bottling, it embodies the house’s patient, monastic philosophy. The wine is dry, profound, and incredibly vibrant—with notes of lemon oil, baked apple, white tea, petrol, and crushed stone. Its texture is ethereal, with feather-light weight and endless length. Despite the age, it remains crystalline and focused, a testament to the longevity of great Austrian Riesling. Released only in tiny quantities, this bottling is one of the most iconic dry Rieslings ever produced, regularly earning cult status among sommeliers and collectors.
Nikolaihof is a legendary name in Austrian wine, and one of the most spiritual and historically resonant estates in Europe. Situated in the Wachau, this biodynamic pioneer operates out of a former Roman fort with viticultural roots stretching back over 2,000 years. The Saahs family has been farming these vineyards biodynamically since the early 1970s, making Nikolaihof one of the earliest and most steadfast advocates for natural farming in the wine world. Their approach is minimalist and philosophical—long élevage in old wood, native fermentations, and total respect for lunar cycles—yielding wines of purity, longevity, and inner energy.
