The 2023 Massetino is composed of approximately 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak and designed to offer the same sense of terroir as its older sibling but with earlier approachability.  On the nose: lush aromas of dark plum, black cherry, violet, cocoa, cedar and espresso mingle, with subtle floral and licorice accents emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium‑to‑full‑bodied and seamlessly structured—velvety tannins, bright acidity, a smooth mid‑palate and a finish marked by saline minerality, graphite and fine spice.  With its polished fruit and strong sense of place, the 2023 Massetino strikes a compelling balance between immediate drinkability and age‑worthiness—ready to enjoy from around 2026 yet built to evolve gracefully over the next decade.

The “Massetino” designation comes from Tenuta dell’Ornellaia—the storied estate behind the legendary Masseto—and serves as its superb second wine. Founded by the Antinori family and later acquired by the Frescobaldis, Ornellaia sits in the heart of Bolgheri, Tuscany, and is regarded as one of Italy’s very finest producers.
