From a hot and early vintage, this 2011 Brunello strikes a beautiful balance between ripe fruit and lifted aromatics. It shows dark cherry, dried rose petal, sweet spice, and leather, supported by velvety tannins and a lingering mineral finish. While softer and more open-knit than cooler vintages, it retains the estate’s hallmark structure and grace. A drinking window sweet spot, offering immediate pleasure with plenty of depth.
The Sassetti family has deep roots in Montalcino, with Livio Sassetti founding the Pertimali estate in the 1960s in the prized Montosoli cru, one of the highest and most prestigious zones in the appellation. Livio was among the pioneers who helped define the modern Brunello identity, always rooted in tradition but never static. Today, his sons continue the legacy, farming organically and producing Brunello that combines elegance, power, and terroir transparency. With high-altitude vineyards and minimal intervention in the cellar, Pertimali’s wines are age-worthy expressions of Sangiovese that remain faithful to their origin. The estate is widely recognized as a reference point for northern Montalcino Brunello.
