The 2019 vintage opens deep garnet‑purple in the glass, and immediately displays an enriched aromatic core of raspberries, cassis, violets, kirsch, licorice and sweet spice—spiced plum and blueberry compote weave through a backdrop of iron‑ore and graphite. On the palate the wine delivers immense concentration and plush tannins balanced with bright acidity, black cherry and dark‑berry fruit layered with dark chocolate, smoke, and minerality. The finish is epic in length and depth, marked by powdery tannins and a lingering saline‑mineral thread. While approachable decades down the line, this is a wine built for the long haul—cellaring for 10‑15 years (or more) will reveal its full potential.
Pétrus is one of the most revered estates in Bordeaux’s Pomerol appellation, set on a unique 11.4 ha parcel of deep blue‑clay soil and planted exclusively to Merlot. The domaine is renowned for its meticulous vineyard practices—hand‑harvesting, incredibly low yields, and ultra‑selective sorting—and its winemaking is equally refined with extended ageing in new French oak and minimal intervention. Pétrus bottles are among the most collectible in the world, praised for their extraordinary depth, elegance, and longevity.
