The 2015 vintage opens with refined aromas of blackberry, cassis, black cherry and an overlay of graphite, sage and cedar.  On the palate it delivers rich dark‑fruit concentration, with polished tannins and sustained minerality; notes of crushed rock, black tea and tobacco leaf emerge on the mid‑palate.  Despite its density the balance is exceptional—bright acid and vibrant lift keep the richness from tipping into heaviness. The finish is long, precise and seamless, leaving lingering flavors of blackcurrant, spice and iron‑rich gravel.  A wine built for the long haul—expect peak drinking to extend well into the 2030s and beyond. 

Château Pichon‑Lalande is a distinguished Second Growth estate in Pauillac, owned by the Rouzaud family (also proprietors of Champagne Louis Roederer).  The vineyards are planted on deep gravel and clay‑gravel soils on the Médoc peninsula, supporting a classic blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot in support.  Winemaking is meticulous: after low‑yielding harvests, the wines undergo long maceration (18–24 days) and are aged in approximately 50–60 % new French oak barrels for around 18 months.  Pichon‐Lalande is celebrated for its velvety texture, aromatic complexity (violet, cassis, truffle), and structure that allows long ageing, making it a benchmark of Pauillac refinement rather than brute force.
