The 2011 Vin Santo opens to a glowing amber‑gold colour and reveals an intense bouquet of dried apricot, honeyed fig, toasted almond, burnt caramel and a gentle swirl of smoky maple syrup.  On the palate it is richly textured yet balanced, offering sweet orchard‑fruit compote and candied orange peel layered over savory notes of hazelnut, malted barley and delicate oxidative complexity. The acidity remains bright, lifting the sweetness and providing an elegant frame, while the finish lingers with toasted chestnut, dried dates and a whisper of saline minerality. This bottle exemplifies Vin Santo at its finest—luxuriously sweet but perfectly poised—and is ideal as a contemplative dessert wine or companion to aged pecorino, dark chocolate or panettone with golden raisins. 

Tenuta San Giusto a Rentennano, perched above the Arbia River in the far southern reaches of the Chianti Classico zone, traces its origins to a 13th‑century monastic estate and today is run by the Martini di Cigala family with uncompromising quality.  They focus on organically farmed Sangiovese and Merlot in prime hillside sites, but also produce a rare Vin Santo from Malvasia and Trebbiano dried for months and aged for years in oak and chestnut barrels—a wine of devotion and tradition.  Their cellar work is meticulous: hand‑picked grapes, long drying, slow fermentation, and years of barrel and bottle aging before release—ensuring that each bottle reflects both place and patience.
