The “Cuvée 50 Years” is a rare and celebratory bottling, created to honor 50 years of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board. This magnum-only release is a blend of Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, drawn from the estate’s best parcels and vinified using the historic “Tradition” method—a slow, oxidative approach that yields wines of depth, elegance, and age-worthiness. The nose offers wild honey, dried apricot, chamomile, and subtle spice, while the palate is textural and expansive, with stony minerality, mature orchard fruit, and a long, savory finish. A profound and contemplative white, ideal for collectors and special occasions.
Schloss Gobelsburg is one of Austria’s oldest and most revered wineries, with a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1171. Located in the Kamptal region, it is especially renowned for its Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, produced from historic terraced vineyards with a deep respect for nature and tradition. Under the stewardship of Michael Moosbrugger, the estate has become a global benchmark for Austrian wine, combining ancient monastic winemaking principles with precise modern viticulture. Their “Tradition” series revives the vinification techniques practiced at Gobelsburg in the 19th century—using large old casks, natural fermentations, and minimal intervention.
