The 2013 Barolo Cerequio is a brilliant expression from a classic vintage noted for balance and freshness. The bouquet is complex and layered, with ripe red cherry, blackberry, and plum accented by rose petal, licorice, and subtle spice. Hints of graphite, tobacco, and earthy minerality emerge with aeration. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet graceful, offering silky tannins and lively acidity that frame the concentrated fruit. The finish is long and elegant, echoing floral and savory notes. The 2013 Cerequio captures the cru’s hallmark finesse and generosity while retaining the structure to age effortlessly for 20+ years.
Roberto Voerzio, the celebrated modernist of La Morra, has built a reputation as one of Barolo’s most meticulous and visionary producers. His philosophy revolves around extremely low yields—often just one or two bunches per vine—to ensure unmatched concentration and purity. With holdings in some of Barolo’s most prized crus, including Brunate, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Case Nere, and Cerequio, he consistently crafts wines that balance power with refinement. Cerequio, located between La Morra and Barolo, is widely regarded as one of the appellation’s “grand cru–like” vineyards, producing Barolos of elegance, aromatics, and supple texture. Voerzio’s interpretation is known for combining depth and vibrancy, while being approachable earlier than some of his more brooding crus.
