This comes from a sandy plot which was replanted in 1970 with buds from El Palomar vineyard. There’s yellow earthiness, ripe meyer lemons, lemongrass-lime, hay, honeycomb and broader prickly pear fleshiness. Chablis-like in the mouth, it has a lovely gentle roundness but great structure and acidity. Savoury, lush and deeply textural, with a plush orchard fruit palate that's all fresh & minerals through the finish. Built for the long haul.
The Zárate tradition begins in 1707 with Diego Zárate y Murga, First Marquis of Montesacro by Decree of Felipe V.
