This 2010 Le Pavillon plunges deeply into the Hermitage granite hillside, sourced from vines over 90 years old on the “Le Pavillon” parcel. In the glass it appears deep garnet with purple tinges. The nose opens with smoky tar, raspberry, blackberry, walnut, and liquorice tones. On the palate it is formidable—complex and velvety, with a strong attack of cassis and dark fruit, tobacco and cocoa lingering through a long finish of licorice and spice. Built for the long haul, the estate recommends 30‑60 years of cellaring. 

M. Chapoutier has been a hallmark estate in the Northern Rhône since 1808, now helmed by Michel Chapoutier whose vision combines deep respect for terroir with progressive biodynamic viticulture. The “Sélection Parcellaire” series isolates individual vineyard sites—older vines on granite, schist or alluvial soils—and treats each batch with minimal intervention to let soil and site shine. In the Hermitage appellation, Chapoutier has earned its reputation for crafting red and white wines of rare power, detail and ageing potential, with hand‑harvesting, native yeasts and small‑lot fermentations that reflect the essence of the hill of Hermitage itself.
