This 2011 Le Pavillon comes from the “Les Bessards” parcel on Hermitage’s granite slope and shows deep garnet with purple glints. On the nose it delivers smoky tar, raspberry, blackberry, walnut, liquorice and floral nuances. The palate is complex and powerful, with a strong opening, velvety texture and long finish of liquorice, tobacco and cocoa — built to cellar for decades.
M. Chapoutier, founded in 1808 in Tain-l’Hermitage, has become a benchmark for terroir-driven winemaking under Michel Chapoutier’s leadership. The estate emphasizes biodynamic viticulture, individual vineyard bottlings (Sélection Parcellaire), hand harvesting and native yeast fermentations, striving to reflect the land’s voice with minimal interference. Their Hermitage parcels—often granite‑soiled and steep—are farmed with precision, and the resulting wines are known for their longevity, power and elegance.
