The 2013 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau Vieilles Vignes is a finely structured and soulful Pinot Noir. Sourced from vines over 70 years old, it delivers aromas of wild strawberry, dried rose, and forest floor, laced with subtle spice and mineral undertones. The palate is fresh and linear, showing notes of red cherry, black tea, and crushed stone, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. A wine of quiet power and graceful aging potential, it reflects both the maturity of the vineyard and the tension of the vintage. Drink now or hold for further evolution over the next 5–7 years.
Bachey-Legros is a historic, family-run domaine rooted in the Côte de Beaune, with viticultural origins dating back to the 16th century. Today, the estate is led by brothers Samuel and Lénaïc Bachey-Legros, who focus on crafting terroir-driven wines from some of the oldest vines in Burgundy—many parcels are over 80 years old. Their vineyards, primarily located in Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Maranges, are farmed with minimal intervention and a deep respect for the environment. The emphasis is on low yields, meticulous vineyard care, and gentle winemaking, aiming to express each climat’s distinct character. Wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged in a careful balance of new and used oak to preserve purity and structure. The resulting style is one of depth, elegance, and authenticity, reflecting both the power of old vines and the finesse of the region.
