The 2019 vintage opens with a vibrant bouquet of raspberries, blueberries, Provençal herbs, violets and flowers, layered with kirsch, garrigue and a subtle graphite minerality. On the palate, it delivers medium‑to‑full body with polished, sweet tannins, bright acidity, and a broad yet elegant mouth‑feel. The texture is silky, the fruit sits front‑and‑centre, and the finish resonates with floral perfume, spice and mineral depth—this is a Vieilles Vignes that is both immediately enjoyable and destined for long‑term ageing.
Domaine de Marcoux is managed by the Armenier‑Estevenin family and sits within the storied Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape appellation in the Southern Rhône. The estate farms 17.5 hectares certified organic, with many vines aged 50‑over 100 years—a key factor in the depth and character of their Vieilles Vignes bottling. Their Vieilles Vignes cuvée comes specifically from old‑vine parcels on sandy, stone‑strewn soils (La Crau, Galimardes, Esqueirons), planted almost entirely to Grenache, and is vinified with minimal intervention, typically aged in a combination of cement vats and oak for 16‑18 months.
