The 2019 Collection Charles Giraud is a monumental and elegantly structured Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape. Crafted from 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, with both components partially destemmed and aged in demi-muids, it delivers a deep ruby hue and a compelling bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, savory spices, cured meats, and graphite . Critics were unanimous in their praise—99 points from Jeb Dunnuck and Jeff Leve, who admired its richness, balance, and opulence; 97 points from Vinous and Wine Spectator, noting its expansive fruit, spice, and mineral lift; and 96 points from Decanter and Wine Advocate, for its vibrant energy and plush structure . Under the stewardship of Isabel Ferrando, Domaine Saint Préfert has evolved into one of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape’s most respected estates. With roots stretching back to the 1930s, the estate is known for its biodynamic sensibility and deep engagement with individual terroirs. The Collection Charles Giraud Cuvee was created to showcase the estate’s oldest vineyards—some over 80–100 years old—planted on classic galets roulés over blue-clay soils. This expression exemplifies the estate’s philosophy of marrying lush fruit intensity with minerality and elegance. Importantly, 2019 was the final vintage of the Charles Giraud standalone cuvée, as post-2019, single-vineyard expressions were merged into the single broader cuvée, Domaine Famille Isabel Ferrando .
