The 2019 Jefferson opens with a delicate salmon‑pink hue, fine persistent bubbles and an expressive nose featuring wild strawberry, cranberry, rose petal, and pink grapefruit, layered with subtle volcanic ash and chalky mineral undercurrent. On the palate it offers bright acidity, refined mousse, and minerality interlaced with tart red berry fruit, touches of almond skin and a saline finish. The texture is sleek yet refined, with a whisper of tannin lending structure unusual for a sparkling Nebbiolo. This is a wine of freshness, site‑clarity and sophistication—approachable now, yet with enough depth to evolve gracefully over several years.
Nervi‑Conterno, the oldest winery in the Gattinara region of Piedmont, was founded in 1906 and has since become a benchmark for refined Nebbiolo from volcanic soils. In 2018, it was acquired by Roberto Conterno, who introduced state‑of‑the‑art cellaring, meticulous parcel selection, and winemaking practices aligned with his renowned Monforte d’Alba estate, enhancing quality across the board. This particular bottling is a shimmering example of innovation and tradition: made 100% from Nebbiolo, vinified in Método Classico (traditional method) with zero dosage and aged for 36 months on the lees to develop texture, complexity and fine depth.
