This 2020 Barolo “Berri” opens with a deep ruby edge, offering a vibrant bouquet of dark cherries, wild raspberry, rose petal, and exotic spices such as cinnamon and patchouli, intertwined with slate‑driven minerality. On the palate the wine is finely structured yet generous, with polished tannins, bright acidity and a core of red and black fruits that feel both ripe and energetic. Mid‑palate complexity emerges in layers of orange‑peel zest, violet, camphor, tea‑leaf and a whisper of licorice. The large‑format 1.5 L heightens texture and age‑worthiness, offering depth and breadth beyond what a regular bottle might deliver. The finish is long and persistent, with saline minerality and dry herbs lingering alongside the fruit, delivering a refined expression that is built to evolve for 15–20 years, while already approachable with decanting today.
Trediberri is a dynamic winery founded in 2007 by three partners—Nicola Oberto, his father Federico, and Vladimiro Rambaldi—with a clear mission to revive La Morra’s historic vineyard sites. Their vineyards include the high‑altitude, sandstone‑inflected cru of Berri (370‑430 m asl) where the Nebbiolo grapes benefit from cool nights and pure alpine air. In the cellar, they follow a “new‑traditional” approach: extended maceration in concrete, ageing in large Slavonian oak botti, minimal intervention and a focus on site‑expression rather than overt extraction. According to reviews, Trediberri is already considered one of Barolo’s rising stars, combining old‑school discipline with modern elegance.
