The 2020 Barbaresco Montefico Riserva is a powerful and brooding Nebbiolo—deep ruby in color, with expressive notes of crushed rosemary, lavender, mint, pine, tobacco, cedar, and dark cherry at the core. Critics have showered praise: Jeb Dunnuck awarded 97 points, Wine Advocate 96+ (noting its botanical, Mediterranean character), and Antonio Galloni also 96, calling it layered and vertical.  The palate is richly structured with tight, sapid tannins and a penetrating minerality; reserved but compelling now, its formidable architecture is built for aging, with peak drinking forecast from the mid-2020s to 2040s. 

Produttori del Barbaresco, founded in 1958, is a revered cooperative of over 50 Nebbiolo growers in the Barbaresco region, dedicated to expressing the pure voice of each vineyard through disciplined, terroir-driven winemaking. Their Riserva line features single-vineyard crus, and Montefico stands out for its calcareous limestone soils and its amphitheater-like exposure that shields it from the warming breezes of the Tanaro valley. This setting yields a Nebbiolo of vertical precision, mineral intensity, and elegant structure—hallmarks of the cooperative’s commitment to both tradition and site specificity.
