This 2020 Vicenziana opens with a vibrant garnet‑ruby colour and an expressive aromatics of wild cherry, pomegranate seed, violet and rose petal, layered with cracked black pepper and a hint of tobacco leaf. On the palate, lively acidity frames a core of ripe red‑berry and dried cranberry fruit, supported by firm yet polished tannins and a subtle lick of licorice root. Mid‑palate complexity emerges with mineral undertones of slate and iron, cedar chest spice, and a whisper of underbrush, bringing elegance and depth. The large‑format 1.5 L enhances the wine’s texture and sense of scale, offering layered concentration and potential for development. The finish is persistent and refined, echoing cherry pit, dried herbs and forest floor with a chalky minerality that lingers long. While accessible now with an hour of decanting, this magnum is built for the long haul and is expected to evolve gracefully over the next 10‑15 years or more. 

Silvio Giamello is a boutique, family‑run domaine located in Barbaresco, Piedmont, known for its traditional, low‑intervention approach and focus on the historic Vicenziana cru. Their vineyards are planted on clay‑and‑limestone soils and managed with minimal yields and hand‑harvesting, producing Nebbiolo of clarity, aromatic lift and terroir purity. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel followed by ageing in large Slavonian‑oak botti (20‑30 hl) for roughly two to three years, resulting in wines that balance classic structure with underlying elegance.
