The 2010 Château La Violette is a monumental Pomerol, reflecting both the brilliance of the vintage and the estate’s meticulous approach. It opens with captivating aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, violet, truffle, and exotic spices, true to its evocative name. The palate is rich and layered, combining concentration with silky texture and extraordinary depth. The tannins are polished yet powerful, providing a backbone for long-term aging, while the finish resonates with floral, mineral, and dark-fruit notes that linger endlessly. This is a rare and breathtaking expression of Pomerol Merlot—opulent yet refined, sensual yet structured, and destined to evolve gracefully for decades.
Château La Violette is one of Pomerol’s rarest and most enigmatic estates, renowned for its tiny production and legendary terroir. Situated on a privileged site atop the Pomerol plateau, the vineyard spans only a few acres, planted exclusively to old-vine Merlot. The estate was revived in the early 2000s under the stewardship of Catherine Péré-Vergé, who brought uncompromising standards of vineyard care and winemaking. La Violette has since become a cult name in Bordeaux, its wines known for remarkable intensity, aromatic purity, and profound expression of Merlot on Pomerol’s iron-rich clay and gravel soils.
